ROOBUCK™ has announced final certifications which allow its BUCKLITE™ to be used in all Ex (Group I, Group IIC, Group IIIC) environments.
The ROOBUCK™ BUCKLITE™, 3 years in the making, offers cool operating underground mine and tunnel machine headlights. It can also be used for machine side lights, when passing branch tunnels etc., and as a stand-alone portable unit.
ROOBUCK™ company spokesman Brent Percy stated “that the imperative to deliver a new underground vehicle headlight was finally brought home when a NSW Mines Department Bulletin was issued. Clear warnings were given to Colliery Management to strictly monitor unacceptable heat generation observed in widely used Quartz Halogen units that were recorded as high as 140 degrees, and to immediately remove them from service. This was seen as a given opportunity to bring on ROOBUCK’s expertise in LED lighting development”.
Hanson Chen, Director of ROOBUCK, confirmed in an unveiling of the ROOBUCK BUCKLITE™, that the primary purpose was to produce, as quickly as possible, an IECEx Certified trucklight, or Boga Headlamp, that would function at much cooler temperatures, whilst delivering substantially superior lighting at reduced energy demands. ROOBUCK’s expertise, chiefly gained through its allied Caplamp production company KINYUN AUSTRALIA, the first ANZEx & IECEx Certified Cordless LED Caplamp, and subsequently holding the biggest range of Certified Cordless LED Caplamps, Sidelamps, warning & specialty lamps – altogether some 26 models across the spectrum.
Mr Chen said, “we wanted to give, to the underground mining industry in particular, what we believed we could. Australia is a great country and has been good to us, so we want to give back to Australia, and now we take this product to the wider world, where it is much needed, for some time we have been in discussions with MSHA in the USA, our only regret is, that it has taken too long to get here”.
Bucklite is designed for the most rigorous underground coal mining environment. Based on Roobuck LED light, mining equipment and explosion-proof expertise, this headlight achieves outstanding performance the coal mining industry has never seen. It features heavy duty brass enclosure, IP67 ingress protection, advanced temperature control and high light output with 24 high efficient Cree LED lights.
A thick Pyrex glass in a high Impact resistance is permanently assembled. The internal temperature is constantly monitored by temperature sensors and the power will be reduced whenever the temperature exceeds the specified level and therefore the room temperature of the enclosure is reliably maintained. 12 LEDs are in forward direction and 12 LEDs are in dim structure toward ground to avoid glare to incoming personal suitable for underground mines. LEDs have a long lifetime plus encapsulated structure so you never need any service such as bulb replacement. A warm white colour makes it close to natural light in a high colour rendering index although other white can also be selected. Electronic circuit is fully encapsulated providing superior environment protection and sock resistance. A wide range of voltage of the power supply can be accepted.
Bucklite is a headlight for underground vehicle such as trucks. It also can be used as work light for all kinds of machineries, such as roof bolter, rock header and rock loaders.
