Dräger UCF 7000 thermal imaging camera

Rescue teams face different challenges in their daily work.No mission is the   same as any other, and every free hand is precious during such operations.

For many years thermal imaging technology assists rescue workers in their efforts to save lives where fire and smoke get in their way by producing images of objects or bodies for which the thermal radiation is invisible to the human eye. These pictures help rescuers get oriented, find people, and detect hidden hotspots.

If fire, smoke and darkness complicate the operation, thermal imaging cameras offer vital guidance and contribute significantly to improving the possibility of successfully completing the fire fighting or rescue mission. With this in mind, Dräger has expanded its existing camera family and has enhanced the technical features even more.

The new generation of thermal imaging cameras from Dräger is designed to provide professionals with the best possible support for their daily operations.

Utilising a new thermal scan technology the camera picture of injured persons is significantly enhanced making it easier for the rescuers to identify casualties on the camera screen and allowing to more accurately assess fire scenarios as well as search and rescue areas. Furthermore, the camera is able to capture temperature ranges from-40°C to 1000°C.

With the UCF 7000, Dräger presents the first Atex and IECEx certified intrinsically safe thermal imaging camera globally representing a new generation of TICs which can be used in virtually any hazardous environment including zone 1 and 2 classified explosive areas.

The UCF 7000 has a large number of new features and allows for intuitive operation. It is now available for sale.

Innovative features for various application concepts and a new design of the new imaging camera family were adapted to enable single handed camera operation.Recuse teams will especially benefit from this feature when carrying additional equipment.

The weight of only 1.3 kg and a variety of carrying options simplify transport and application of the new thermal imaging cameras. When fast timing during risky situations requires quick modifications, the operating mode can be adjusted to the new situation at the touch of a button. The user can choose from three additional settings; one of them is for example “thermal scan” to detect hot spots or casualties.

The UCF thermal imaging cameras offer an integrated laser pointer in order to communicate quickly with each other and to bring attention to hazards. It can be used as an extended index finger and allows a clear and time saving communication when directing a team. Moreover, it allows to exactly pinpoint a hot spot and to accurately determine the temperature of this hot spot.

The UCF 7000 also has an integrated dual zoom for the safe approach to a danger zone. Should the situation be confusing or visibility limited, the UCF thermal imaging cameras enable the still image function, “freezing”, as well as a “look around the corner”. For documentation and training purposes, the UCF 7000 offers integrated video, sound recording and the ability to capture individual images.

Thanks to the robust housing, the UCF thermal imaging camera has passed the flame exposure test NFPA 1801 and is able to withstand extreme conditions. Because of the protection class IP 67, water and dust cannot harm the device.Due to constructive and circuitry measures the UCF 7000 cannot become a source of ignition, therefore it is intrinsically safe. The UCF 7000 carries the approval for hazardous areas, including zone 1 according to the ATEX directive 94/9/EC and conforming to the IECEx requirements.

An additional model — the UCF 9000 — is currently under development. It will offer an even higher resolution and have even more features than the UCF 7000 such as 384*288 resolution, five application palettes, extension interface for remote monitoring.
