Glencore’s Bulga Underground Mine wins Mining Operation of the Year Award

NSW Mining AwardsGlencore’s Bulga Underground Mine won Mining Operation of the Year last night at the third annual NSW Mining Suppliers Awards.

Richard Gelson, Production Manager at Centennial Coal’s Springvale Colliery took out the Young Achiever category.

Minister for Energy and Resources Anthony Roberts delivered the dinner keynote address, registering the NSW Government’s appreciation for the hard work of the state’s miners, and acknowledging the essential service being provided by the NSW mining industry during tough times.

Premier Mike Baird delivered a welcome address to attendees, vowing that his Government will do more to support the 40,000 hardworking miners and their families in NSW.

 

Awards were presented across five categories:

Category: Small Business Achievement
WINNER: Novecom Pty Ltd

Category: Outstanding Supplier
WINNER: Quarry Mining

Category: Mining Operation of the Year
WINNER: Glencore – Bulga Underground Operation

Category: Young Achiever
WINNER: Richard Gelson, Production Manager, Springvale Colliery, Centennial Coal

Category: Outstanding Contribution to Mining
WINNER: Ian Cribb, Chief Operating Officer, Glencore

The Awards form part of the 2014 NSW Mining Industry & Suppliers Conference being held at NSW Parliament House.
