Minister to attend G20 Energy meeting in Turkey

Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia Josh Frydenberg will be representing the Australian Government at the G20 Energy Ministers’ meeting in Turkey tomorrow (Friday).

The meeting, held in Instanbul, is an important opportunity to promote energy access, efficiency and investment while progressing the G20 Principles on Energy Collaboration that were agreed at last year’s G20 meeting, Mr Frydenberg said.

“As an energy superpower, other nations look to Australia for leadership on priority reforms, including around the modernisation of international institutions to make them more inclusive of emerging and developing economies,” he said.

“Australia looks forward to continuing this key role to drive strong and resilient energy markets both domestically and abroad.

“The ministers will also work with international energy institutions to enhance energy security and further utilise renewables, which are playing an ever-increasing role in energy markets.

“As part of the visit I will also hold bilateral meetings with several energy ministers and will meet with business leaders in the energy and resources sector.”
