NSW Miners Urged to Put Questions Directly to Ministers at Mining Conference

Minng jobs matter

Ín the wake of hundreds of job cuts across News South Wales, the NSW Minerals Council is urging those in the mining industry to show decision-makers that ‘mining jobs matter’, by attending the NSW Mining Industry and Suppliers Conference.

Mine workers are being encouraged to attend the event and put questions directly to MPs and Ministers about the future for mining and mining jobs in NSW.

In a statement the Council said, “You’ve been asking us how to show the support for our miners in NSW, especially given recent news that 500 jobs at Anglo American’s Drayton mine will be lost and another 1300 jobs at Rio Tinto’s Mount Thorley Warkworth in the Hunter Valley are still at risk.”

“The upcoming NSW Mining Industry & Suppliers Conference at NSW Parliament is your best shot to help us make a positive statement about the contribution of our miners and show decision makers that mining jobs matter.”

The NSW Mining Industry & Suppliers Conference starts 9am on Friday 21 November at NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney.
