SIMPEC AWARDED A$2.7M TALISON LITHIUM MINE CONTRACT

Highlights:

  • WestStar business SIMPEC Pty Ltd has been awarded a significant ~$2.7M contract by MSP Engineering at the Talison Lithium Mine in Greenbushes, Western Australia.
  • SIMPEC will design and construct process water tanks for the state-of-theart lithium processing plant at Talison.
  • With recent contract extensions and the new tanks contract, SIMPEC has added $5M to its order book. SIMPEC continues to tender for projects throughout Australia with $150M+ of work tendered over the past 6 months.

WestStar Industrial Limited has advised its engineering contractor business SIMPEC Pty Ltd has been awarded another key contract by MSP Engineering for the Talison Lithium Mine – the world’s biggest lithium mine – at Greenbushes, 90km south-east of the Port of Bunbury, Western Australia.

The contract award will see SIMPEC design, supply and construct process water tanks (“Tanks Package”) at the Chemical Grade Plant 2 Project (“CGP2 Project”). The contract has a value of ~$2.7 million and commences imminently.

MSPE is the Head contractor for the design and construction of the CGP2 Project, which will more than double the capacity of the Talison Lithium Mine to 1.34Mtpa lithium concentrate. The CGP2 Project is due for commissioning in the second quarter of 2019.

The award of the Tanks Package contract follows on from MSPE engaging SIMPEC to supply and subsequently install high voltage and fibre optic cables and concrete pits at the CGP2 Project. This significant contract award is a strong endorsement for SIMPEC and builds on the relationship with MPSE.
