Karara Mining is seeking an experienced Contracts Superintendent to lead the commercial team based in the Perth office.

The Contracts Superintendent will be responsible for providing leadership and management of the Company’s day to day service contracting functions. They will liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Company’s contracting and approval procedures and policies.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, plan and negotiate with external contractors to ensure delivery of all the Company’s goods and services and to protect the Company’s commercial interests
• Writing and interpreting complex and high value contractual requirements and obligations
• Leadership and development of the contracting and commercial outcomes that maximize the returns to the Company
• Providing commercial advice and developing/implementing practical strategies to manage complex/high risk contracts
• Management of Contractor insurance and contracts register
• Management of any disputes or contractual legal matters
• Working with stakeholders to develop planning, actions and accountability
• Developing problem solving plans with stakeholders and driving solutions initiatives
• Transparent information flow, presenting to stakeholders and direct reports

Key requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in commerce/business, legal or contract management
• Minimum 7+ years relevant experience preferably in mining industry
• Sound understanding of principles and practice of commercial negotiation with practical experience
• Previous experience or similar role in a blast and haul mining operations context
• Practical experience in the use of contraction documentation in goods supply, service and project type contracts

Desirable:

• Sound understanding of the principles and practices of commercial negotiation with significant practical experience
• Highly developed planning, leadership and negotiation skills
• Well developed analytical skills
