Mine Manager

Following major capital investment in 2012-17, Causmag International now seek a motivated and passionate Mine Manager to build on investment and to take productivities, ore recovery and mining practices to the next level. Leading a small team, this is an opportunity for the right candidate to stand out and make this job your own.

The ideal candidate should be well versed in mine planning and scheduling operations (open pit excavation, screening, crushing, washing, and sorting) and maintenance (earth moving equipment, material handling systems, and electronic control systems) tasks. The candidate should also possess the ability and aptitude to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with mine working procedures and environment requirements.

To be successful in this role you will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:

  • Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering or similar
  • First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency, satisfying NSW requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in open pit mining or quarrying including 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Thorough  knowledge of NSW mining regulations
  • Proven experience in supervising small teams
  • Previous exposure to mine feasibilities and development projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and relevant mining software
  • Extensive experience in the recruitment, training and mentoring of personnel
  • Knowledge of exploration/drilling shall be added advantage
  • Proven record of managing mining operations and achieving production targets while ensuring safe operations
  • Experience in executing projects for refurbishing existing equipment and installing new equipment
  • Experience in long-term pit and dump design

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership  and direction to operations and maintenance team at mines and comply with all regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Must supply quality and quantity of raw material as per the requirement of the plant
  • Be responsible for the review and approval of medium and long term forecasts and budgets
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted expenditures, both operating and capital projects and optimise resource life and utilisation
  • Control cost of overall operations of the production so that cost per tone can come down
  • Liaise with relevant regulators and stakeholders for timely approvals for mining projects, licences and plans
  • Liaise with geologist and ensure forward planning for Pit operations
