Holcim is recruiting for Planning & Approval Manager, based in Hawthorn VIC.

The successful candidate will be accountable for managing the planning & approval portfolio mainly for our aggregates business in Victoria and South Australia, but also provide support to our ready-mix concrete and precast products businesses.

  • Providing strategic, risk based, advice to the business and functional teams, supporting short and long term business plans,
  • Establishing and leading project teams including coordinating consultants and liaising with senior government agencies across the three tiers of government to efficiently deliver environmental approvals in a timely manner,
  • Coordinating stakeholder consultation with the community, indigenous groups & agencies.
  • Supporting the National Team delivering national and global initiatives and programs.

About you

You have a sharp intellect tempered by an engaging and empathic communication style.  This allows you to proactively develop and implement project strategies; as well as provide solutions while appreciating the commercial implications.

Day to day you can rapidly adapt to change and can prioritise a large and diverse workload, to successfully manage projects and partner with the business.   You can review volumes of legal & technical information and cut through it to form strategic advice & action plans to direct the business.

  • Tertiary qualified in an Urban/Town Planning or Environmental Science discipline
  • Excellent Project Management experience which lead to innovative solutions for success
  • Experience working in the mining, materials, energy, transport or utilities industry
  • Solid understanding of planning and environmental regulations & approval processes
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and conflict resolution skills; being able to educate parties in a foreign subject and influence internal stakeholders.
