Aussies are gifting lumps of coal this Christmas

Australians are giving the gift of coal this Christmas to their loved ones, or not so loved ones, in the latest prank gift trend.

The coal our miners are working tirelessly to dig out of the ground can be purchased for just $19.95, which includes a beautifully gift-wrapped lump of coal.

The Send Em Coal website states the “165 million year old gift” the “perfect piece of holiday cheer for your annoying boss, shit mates, lazy coworkers, ungrateful kids”.

“Don’t spend time on someone you don’t care about. Let us take care of presentation and delivery,” the website says.

“Every piece of coal we send is a piece of coal that doesn’t get burnt into the atmosphere.”

The website creators, Regan Kerr and Luke Szalla, appeared on the Today Show yesterday and said they wanted to bring the myth of receiving a lump of coal for Christmas to life.

They are donating $2 from every order to the Smith Family Christmas Appeal.
