Government upgrades Titles Management System

Titles Management System upgrade

Mining investors, explorers and industry stakeholders can now track applications in real-time and lodge renewals online, with the NSW Government today rolling out a number of Titles Management System (TMS) upgrades.

Mining, Exploration and Geoscience NSW Deputy Secretary Michael Wright said the TMS has been well received by industry and stakeholders since its launch in December 2019 and the new phase two features will provide even greater accountability and convenience.

The new phase two features allow users to:

  • Lodge renewals for exploration licences, assessment leases and mining leases
  • Lodge applications and renewals for coal related titles
  • View the status of their application with greater transparency
  • Download a PDF copy of their application.

Mr Wright said the TMS is a key deliverable of the NSW Minerals Strategy and the latest enhancements will provide greater features and functionality to new and existing users, as well as agents and the wider community.

Mining to help dig economy out of COVID-19 hole

“The Titles Management System is a one-stop shop for the end-to-end management of mining titles and these new features will ensure greater visibility, transparency and accountability of the process, while also providing added convenience,” Mr Wright said.

“With this phase two release, applicants can use the new case-tracking functionality in their dashboard to see which of six stage categories their application has progressed to.”

The roll out of the phase two functionality follows extensive consultation and engagement sessions with agents and titleholders from the coal and minerals sectors, with constructive feedback on features embedded in this release and proposed for future releases.

Mr Wright said further planned releases will provide additional functionality and convenience, such as better profile management capabilities and enhanced dashboards with key date notifications.

With the encouraging take up of TMS over the last few months, and the intention for TMS to be the ‘single point of entry’ for industry, roll out of phase two means the Resources Customer Portal can be switched off on 29 June. Provisions are in place to allow applicants to complete or transfer draft applications over to TMS.
