In a remote desert location in Sudan, the Canadian company, Orca Gold, is planning a major gold mine. With annual production of at least 200,000 ounces, the project has an estimated capital cost of US$330 million.

In January this year, Sudan approved a feasibility study for the project prepared by the Australian engineering consultant, Lycopodium. Construction is to commence next year, with first production in 2021.

Over the next three months, we are releasing reports on 100 global mining projects in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Orca Gold’s Sudan project is one of these.
