FIFO workers drug searched at Miles Airport by sniffer dogs

Police dog snifferFIFO workers from mining and gas projects in south-west Queensland have been targeted for drug searches by police with sniffer dogs at Miles Airport.

According to Surat Basin.com, nine flights were delayed on Tuesday as Police conducted the searches.

“Officers detected two men with illegal items, including steroids and a mobile phone used in connection with a drug crime,” Surat Basin.com reports.

“The operation is the first, but not the last; police warned that they planned to crack down on people working under the influence of illegal drugs on mining camps in coming months.”

Workers with information leading to the arrest of drug dealers or users in resource camps are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
