Gina Rinehart tops Rich List despite $2billion drop in earnings

GinaRinehartGina Rinehart has topped BRW’s annual Australian Rich List, again, despite her earnings dropping by $2.01 billion to $20.01 billion.

BRW says, “Rinehart’s wealth may fall in the short-term due to continued weakening of iron ore but should rise again soon. The completion of the debt financing package means that her wealth should rise strongly in 2015, when it is expected that her Roy Hill project will start shipping ore.”

Anthony Pratt and family, of Visy Industries, takes second spot after a $1.7 billion rise in their wealth.

James Packer rounds out the top three.

Coming in at number five is Swiss-based Ivan Glasenberg. The Glencore chief executive lifted his wealth by $1.01 billion on the back of Glencore’s rising share price.
