Live in the Hunter Valley? Good news for mining jobs…

The Hunter is enjoying a boost to the local economy, with more mining jobs in the region.

Latest figures from Coal Services show about 12,000 people currently work in the Hunter’s coal production industry – over 1000 more than this time last year.

It’s thanks to a turnaround in prices as our export markets demand for New South Wales coal increases.

NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee says mining communities like Singleton and Muswellbrook are benefiting.

“It’s good news because of the flow on benefits that it brings to businesses right across the Hunter region including over 4,500 businesses that are part of the mining supply chain,” he said.
