New Silver Mine for Mudgee NSW

A new silver mine may soon open up in NSW with Kingsate Consolidated moving to deliver an environmental assessment for the Bowden Silver project as early as 2014.

The announcement was made at the 2013 NSW Minerals Exploration and Investment Conference held in Sydney last week.

Located near Mudgee, the Bowden Silver project was purchased by Kingsgate in 2011 for $75 million and is expected to produce an estimated 46 million tonnes of silver, zinc and lead over a 10 year life span.

Kingsgate said it received the Director General’s Requirements for the project in February this year and was working through these to complete all the assessment and modelling work required for the EIS.

Kingsgate said the current resource estimate is 182 million ounces of silver with an in ground value of $5 billion and recent metallurgical tests show 82 per cent silver recovery.
