Nominations are now open for South Australia’s Premier’s Community Excellence Awards in Mining and Energy.
Now in its fourth year, the awards have been designed to raise awareness of the significant role mining plays in South Australia, not only in terms of the economy and jobs, but also to the community through various community programs.
Jason Kuchel, Chief Executive of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) said resources companies in South Australia continue to lead the way in their social responsibility programs.
“The Premier’s Community Excellence Awards in Mining and Energy recognise the commendable activities of SA resources companies and their service providers, to bring benefits to communities above and beyond the enormous economic and employment benefits delivered as one of the State’s key industries,” Mr Kuchel said.
Nominations close Monday 2 March, with winners to be announced at SACOME’s Annual Resources Industry Dinner on Monday 13 April, part of the South Australian Resources and Energy Investment Conference.
Categories in this year’s award include:
- Excellence in Social Inclusion
- Excellence in Supporting Communities
- Environmental Excellence and Excellence in Leadership – Women in Resources.
“We strongly encourage our members, including service provider’s, to nominate for the awardsthis year,” Mr Kuchel said.
“In the current challenging environment it is particularly important that companies are recognised for their ongoing commitments to their communities and that the public is made aware of the resource sector’s activities, priorities and leadership in community and social excellence.”
