Worker killed in rockfall at WA gold mine

A mine worker has been killed in an accident at the Harlequin gold mine near Norseman on the West Australian Goldfields.

According to WA’s Department of Mines and Petroleum the 59 year old man was killed early on Saturday morning by a rockfall at the undergound mine.

The West Australian is reporting that the Central Norseman Gold employee was from New Zealand and was just months away from retirement.

Operations have been suspended at the mine while the Department and officials conduct investigations.
