A diversified company won the tender for a resources development.
Part of CIMIC Group recently secured the construction contract for two processing trains at Ablemarle’s Kemerton processing plant.
Successful bidder UGL promised the work would increase production by up to 100,000 metric tonnes per annum. This would indirectly support manufacturing an estimated 2.4 million electric vehicles annually.
The project is promised to create up to 400 construction jobs and generate more than $300M in revenue.
The same tenderer separately won the following packages:
- electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and access services for Alcoa’s bauxite and alumina operations
- mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, access, insulation, coatings, fire protection and other brownfields implementation services for an energy provider
- front-line and campaign maintenance, brownfield execution scopes and turnaround events at Chevron Australia facilities
- asset preservation services for an energy provider
Those contracts are worth a combined $300M.
“We are pleased to support Albemarle’s expansion plans at the Kemerton lithium hydroxide plant,” UGL managing director Doug Moss said in a public statement.
