Mining Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2018/19 – Released

Some may be aware that mining is a dangerous occupation, however, what people might not know is that it has the third highest fatality rate of any industry, with 9 workers dying each year. Although the mining industry has seen a decline in the number of fatalities in the past year, it is still more crucial than ever to raise awareness of the importance of knowledge and implementation of safety in the workplace.

Pro-Visual Publishing, in partnership with the Australian Mines and Metals Association and the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre, has proudly released the 2018/19 edition of the Mining Industry Guide to Workplace Safety, covering a range of safety topics relevant to the industry.

Naturally occurring radioactive materials is an issue faced by workers within the industry, the Guide features information on requirements to control and manage the exposure to it. Additionally, this year’s Guide also details emergency response at Australian mines, an important topic detailing information on the contents of an emergency plan and ways to improve the emergency response.

Other important topics include ground control in open pit mines, roads and other vehicle operating areas and controlling the risks.

This years guide once again features Augmented Reality (AR), providing it with a digitally interactive feature, contributing to engagement and retention of safety information. By simply scanning over any AR capable content using the free Pro-Vis AR App will allow users to instantly download WHS information to their smart device that is essential to the mining sector.
