A multinational coal producer completed one of its largest ever supply chain deals in Queensland’s Galilee Basin.

Bravus Mining and Resources recently ordered dozens of Ultrahaul truck trays for its $2 billion Carmichael Coal Project, 160km northwest of Clermont.

Successful tenderer SMW Group is tasked with fabricating and delivering at least 23 units from a combined 40 tonnes of steel. Eight new apprentices were hired to help complete the work in both Rockhampton and Mackay.

“A lot of major companies talk about their local content and regional commitments but to get an order of this size from Bravus really shows they are happy to put their money where their mouth is and invest locally,” SMW chief operating officer Cameron Tragardh said in a public statement.

“There is a lot of coal in the world but the reason Bravus chose to invest here is not only the quality of our mine’s resource, but the quality of the supporting resources available to us in regional Queensland,” Bravus chief operating officer Mick Crowe added.
