Contract awarded for $3.6B resources project

A mining services company won a tender at a major development.

Thiess recently secured the mining services contract for Fortescue Metals Group’s Iron Bridge Project.

The successful bidder will spend the next three years carrying out mining, maintenance and asset management services. AMR can reveal the deal is worth more than $700 million, and there is potential for extension.

The following permanent, full time and fly-in fly-out positions have been advertised:

  • maintenance leading hands (multiple positions)
  • human resources advisors (multiple)
  • dump truck operators (multiple)
  • heavy diesel fitters (multiple)
  • ancillary operators (multiple)
  • mobile plant serviceperson
  • heavy tyre fitters (multiple)
  • auto electricians (multiple)
  • dozer operators (multiple)
  • trade assistants (multiple)
  • light vehicle mechanic.

Click here to apply. Successful candidates will be offered a roster of either 14 days on seven days off, or eight days on six days off.

Full camp facilities, meals, salary continuance insurance, discounted Medibank private health insurance, salary sacrificed flights and other employee benefits are available. An extra $5000 bonus could be paid if staff members refer a friend and they also secure work for the same business. Referred friends must pass the six-month probation period before the referrer receives the amount.

“We are focused on community engagement, and creating opportunities for Nyamal-owned businesses and employment pathways for local people,” Thiess Australia executive general manager West Spencer Jose said in a public statement.

Work is expected to commence sometime before the end of September 2022.
